Happy July! Summer is in full swing and the dry fly fishing has really picked up. The weather has been warm and the bugs are out. Flows have stabilized throughout both the Jackson and Teton Valley’s and fishing has been excellent.

The South Fork of the Snake has been fishing well, with tons of large fish eating. The Salmonflies have made their way up through the canyon and have arrived in the ditch in section 1. Fishing Salmonflies and Golden Stones below the hatch from Conant down has been productive as well. On the lower river fishing drakes and PMD’s has also been effective.

The Snake River from Jackson Lake Dam all the way to Palisades has been fishing great. We are at summer flows and the water is gin clear. Fishing golden stoneflies and hopper pattern in sizes 8-12 along the banks has worked well. Fishing smaller dry flies such as a parachute adams or purple haze in size 12-16 in the riffles has also produced.

The water in Pinedale and the Green has been getting to unfishable temps in the mid afternoon so going as early as possible is the way to go. The bite has been good in the
morning on golden stonefly and chubby chernobyl patterns and continues throughout the day. Transitioning to green or grey drakes around 11AM once the bug activity increases has also produced fish. Streamer fishing early in the morning until 9AM has also been productive. Fishing deep undercut banks with foam and keeping a drake rod ready when you spot rising fish has been the ticket.

The crowds in Jackson are back, and so are we!
