August is here! Get ready for a hot one, keep those fish wet and make sure the water isn't too hot . We are seeing peak water temps at ~65 degrees but keep an eye out as anything in the 67-68 range is a sign to put the rods down. We're starting to see cooler early mornings and afternoons as we approach our fall season. A much needed drop in temps is hopefully coming soon. That being said, the fishing has been great! Get ready for those fall hatches.

On the Snake in Jackson hoppers have been fishing very well. Faster banks on boulders have been holding bigger fish that are looking for cooler temps. Seems have also been fishing well, throwing a dry dropper along these can be a good option. We are coming into fall so terrestrials will start working better on the snake (ex: ants and stimulators.) The Snake Cutthroat have also been keeping their eyes out for stonefly and mayfly nymphs on drop offs and other water changes.
Fish on the South Fork of the Snake are getting pickier as the season goes on. It is starting to become more of a nymphing game but the hoppers are out! We have been seeing some nice fish come up for foam recently, but don't forget the PMD and other small mayfly hatches! Streamers are going to start to be more effective as we see cooler evenings. So if you can't find fish, try throwing some meat!
