August has been fun so far. Rain has been frequenting the Jackson area allowing for water temps to cool and improve the fishing. Still watch out for the hot days and water temps but it should be getting cooler with the rain and the cool nights. The fishing has been picking up since late July. Fish are still looking up and we are starting to see some new bugs. Everything is going to be earlier than last year so get ready for an early fall season.

The snake in Jackson has been fishing well. Fish are still looking for hoppers and stoneflies. Smaller foam has been the ticket most days but don't ignore the big foam, big fish are still looking for a big meal. Pats rubber legs have been fishing well, along with duracells and other slotted beadhead nymphs. The hecubas are finally showing up to the snake. The cutties are going to move shallow for these big dry flies so change up where you have been looking for those big fish. The edges of riffles and tops of drop offs are going to hold big fish looking up.

The south fork of the snake river has been fun fishing in August. Some days it is a nymphing game but throw the big foam early in the morning to try and get a big eat! Foam has been fishing well on deeper drops and riffles. The PMD fishing has been good in the riffles, flats and bigger drops. The fish are sitting higher in the water column so don't drop too deep with the nymphs. Streamers will fish well but it has to be the right day. There is no better way to put it, you will know early in the day. A lot of shallow water eats, ends of flats, middle river ledges, and any type of under water structure.
