It must be spring! Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is closed, and that means the Bakers dozen has started. It is going to feel like spring out there this week with Warm temps in the forecast, and a nice break from wet weather Thursday and Friday. Fishing was pretty decent this weekend, the wind made it a little challenging at points, but that’s what Wyoming likes to do to us. Still lots of pods of rising fish eating midges, and during certain parts of the day they didn’t seem too picky. I was using a Cluster midge # 18 , and parachute midge #20, and the fish didn’t seem to mind. The nymphing was good too with #18 zebra midges, and #6,#8 turds(Pat’s Rubber Legs, Cheater Belly’s). The streamer bite was on and off, but we managed to pick up a few with a bunch of different colored streamers. The fishing was definitely spotty with the best fishing between 12:30 – and 3pm. Things should get more consistent as the weather warms up. Skwala time could be right around the corner, so if everything aligns we could be tossing foam bugs in no time.
Stop by the shop, and get a Bakers Dozen ( buy 12 get 13 free). The popular flies go fast, so be sure to get in and get your pick of the litter. We are also going to start getting prepared for your Gear Swap. Be sure to put some of your old or used gear aside during your spring cleaning. Call or stop by the shop for details.
