I had the opportunity to host a trip at El Pescador Lodge with some family, and friends this past January. Man was the fishing hot! The lodge is located just outside the town of San Pedro on Ambergis Caye in Northern Belize. It is an extremely well-run operation with a world-class fishery and guides. During our six days on the water we collectively landed 13 Permit, 1 Tarpon and dozens of Bonefish. According to all of the local guides the new moon is the best phase for Permit fishing, a few even went as far as to say the moon phase can have a bigger impact on the fishing than the weather. The highlight of the trip came when my younger cousin Tommy landed a 25+ pound Permit on his first cast of the day, on the 3rd day of the trip. We caught many different species including Horse Eye Jacks, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit. Check out a few photos from the trip below.
