Its seems Mother Nature was informed that May is upon us, because you could not ask for a more beautiful day in the Jackson Hole Valley. Mid 50s, and clear water have brought a bunch of eager anglers into the shop this morning. A number of our guides have also ventured out, and lit up our phones with great reports. Apparently the streamer bite is happening right now, and fishing is red hot. They have also caught fish on standard nymphs, and even a little dry fly action. If I wasn’t in the shop I know where I would be today, and tomorrow.
The good weather is great news, however I would expect warmer temperatures to raise the water levels, and turn it off color again by the weekend. Once the temperatures get high enough to melt upper elevation snow , that usually gets the Buffalo, and Pacific creek going. Get out there while you can would be my suggestion. There are some other options to fish. Mostly on the Idaho side , but I have heard decent reports about the Henry’s Fork, and South Fork near the dam. Come by the shop for some fly suggestions before you head over there.
If you are gearing up for the season, do not forget about our Baker’s Dozen. Its buy 12 get 13 free. Its a great deal, and we still have tons of flies to choose from. I did a quick inventory today, and was amazed to see we still have Parachute Adams ! So stock up while you can.
